hell yeah
Yeah, same as everyone else, I think. I'm glad you and your friend made it out safely. Would it be okay to meet now we're...
...I don't want to say home, but you know what I mean. Not under the ocean.
no subject
Yeah, we can meet!! Do you wanna come to my house, or should I come over to yours?
no subject
[so says the 8 inch tall plastic toy.]
no subject
[Insert the address here, which she has finally learned after a year what it even is rather than just sending vague instructions of "it's the house with these flowers outside" or the like. In comparison to some other houses, the grass outside is a tad tall, but to be fair... do you really expect a small girl to know anything about cutting grass or using a lawnmower on her own?]
no subject
[that's the advantage of obsessively studying maps, baby! it takes him a little while to get there because he's... you know, tiny, but he does. finally. the tall grass is a welcome thing, actually. it helps him hide better from the people wandering up and down the streets.
he's crouching by some flowers when he messages her again.]
I'm here. Can you get the door?
no subject
Buzz?
no subject
Here. I'm glad you're okay. It's nice to see the sun again, isn't it?
no subject
[... Speaking of which!]
Do you wanna come inside? I've got all my dolls here with me, and I can show you some of my drawings and stuff too!
no subject
I'd love to meet your friends and see your artwork.
no subject
Okayyy! Come on in!
[Mary holds the door open wider to let Buzz step inside. One of the first things that's going to become very quickly apparent is that Mary almost certainly lives alone, because who would tolerate the fact that there's crayon drawings on the walls of her house here? There's a lot of different things like you'd expect of a kid: flowers, animals, a bright cheery sun, mary herself, her dolls, friends that she has in Deerington.
At least it seems that she has some concept of cleanliness though: there's no trash or food (save for maybe some candy and wrappers) just left out randomly, it seems she does know where that stuff is supposed to go and how to clean her dishes with the dishwasher. There is a couple of socks here or there she might have missed, but she's got most of her dirty clothes in a basket in a corner for whenever she gets around to getting those clean sometime. Maybe the only thing she still struggles with aside from yard work is vacuuming/dusting as there may be a dust bunny lurking under a chair somewhere, but what 9-10 year old has any concept of dusting anyway?
The living room seems to the most used room of the house: she's not only got a table set up with all of her dolls and toys sitting around it as if preparing for a tea party, but there's also a blanket and pillow fort set up in the corner with enough blankets and pillows that she probably sleeps there instead of going to an actual bedroom most nights.
But as far as Mary is concerned, this is all normal for her as she gestures with her arms wide open.]
So, here's where everyone hangs out! You've already met my friend here--[She says, picking up the creepy blue doll for a moment, before putting them back in their original spot]--but now you can say hi to the others!
[The "others", in this case, being what appears to be one of those wooden lobster toys on wheels, the stuffed deer that was given out to people for Christmas, and... uh. A plush xenomorph doll? Yep, she sure has one of those.]
no subject
honestly, when he realises she's roughing it alone, he's genuinely surprised the house is in as good a state as it is. he follows her through to the living room, looking around at the set up. it's kind of adorable? after all that happened, he's genuinely glad she's managing to find something fun to do.]
Quite the collection of friends you have. [he gestures at the plush.] I know that one's meant to be an alien, but it's actually pretty cute!
no subject
[She says, patting her alien doll on the head for a moment. It doesn't really react though--in fact it seems the only doll that is alive in some capacity is that strange blue one as Buzz will see it actually turn it's head slightly to look at Buzz when Mary turns her attention back to Buzz as well.]
And as you can see, I've got alllll kinds of artwork on my walls here, and some on the paper here on the table you can look at if you want! Do you like drawing, Buzz?
1/3
is that some movement out the corner of his eye?]
no subject
no subject
--Ah, what? Drawing? I can't really draw... you're a lot more talented than I am. I'd like to see what's on the table!
no subject
Okay! Come sit over here wherever you'd like!
[Mary will also sit at her little table as well in-between two of her dolls, before she picks up her drawings and spreads them out for Buzz to look at more. Some of it is a little more of the same as the walls, but now she's also drawn a few friends (Buzz may even spy an attempt having been made to draw him!) of people that Buzz might recognize from being here in Deerington, like Mami or the other Toy Story folks. The art quality is... about what you might expect from a young girl.
She's also drawn some attempts at roses, a brunette girl with a red ribbon and skirt, and... uh. Well, there's one sheet that has a bunch of those blue dolls together, and another that has what appears to be some kind of woman dressed in red...coming out of a mirror? Or maybe it's a tv-screen or something else.]
no subject
buzz stops when he gets to a picture of jessie and woody. smiles lightly.]
You're a good artist.
no subject
[Mary beams at the praise, before she picks up one of her pictures of that woman dressed in red. As she looks at it, her smile changes to a more nostalgic one.]
I'm... probably not as good as my dad, though--he's a pro... profeshional? He created all kinds of amazing art and stuff! He even got his own gallery dedicated to just his works that people came and visited...
no subject
Did he show you how to draw? Or are you self-taught?
no subject
[There's an awkward pause as she sets her drawing back down, and then admits--]
Actually... I've never even met my dad before. I just know he's the reason I'm alive, and that he made all kinds of other great art.
no subject
[he keeps looking at the drawing, but glances back to mary.]
I'm sure he'd be proud of how good you are.
no subject
[She'd certainly like to think so, if she ever got the chance to see him. But she's also been unsure, given some actions she had taken in the last year, if she is really as "good" as she tries to be.
Still, it's a comfort to hear Buzz suggest such otherwise.]
no subject
[he looks over at her properly now, a little smile tugging at his mouth.]
I know for sure I'm proud of your talent, and how kind you've grown to be. I can't imagine he wouldn't be.
no subject
You're... you're so nice, Buzz!
[Incoming, Mary is going to try to pick you up and hug you now in gratitude.]
no subject
[he's surprised by the sudden affection, but it's not unwelcome! he is happy to be hugged by a kid. it's what he's for, after all! he can't really return it properly because of the size difference, but he does his best!]
